More than a Podiatry Clinic
Share
Dawn Marie Morrison’s late husband, John Morrison, had been a long time patient of Dr. Karl Johnson at TriState Podiatry. After moving from the Seattle area, her husband was referred from his primary care provider to create a care plan for his diabetes and foot health.
“Dr. Johnson is really a great doctor,” said Dawn. “My husband went to him on and off for two years. He performed surgery on my husband’s foot, which went very smoothly. The entire team there is just amazing. It was like no other experience I have ever had with a clinic.”
From the moment a patient walks through the doors at TriState Podiatry, the entire team is dedicated to providing compassionate, supportive, and expert care. Over the last 20 years, John had dealt with a variety of health issues. He wasn’t the fondest of going to the hospital, but he loved going to see Dr. Johnson.
“John was one of those patients that I could talk to for hours because we had so much in common,” said Dr. Johnson. “Every time a new Marvel TV series is announced I think of John. He would always get excited about those sort of things.”
Creating a family-like environment is at the core of the care given at TriState Podiatry. During the time that John was being treated at the clinic, a closeness was created between his family and those working at TriState Podiatry. He was being seen often, sometimes two to three times a week.
“A lot of the times, he was the first patient I would see of the day,” said Dr. Johnson. “He really became one of my good friends. My entire staff knew both John and Dawn well.”
After John’s passing, Dawn spent a day calling family members letting them know what had happened. Not 24-hours later, after family had been notified, she called TriState Podiatry. She wanted to make sure they knew what happened as well, since they were all so close.
“Literally 10-minutes after I called the office, Dr. Johnson called me back. He said how sorry he was and that meant everything to me,” said Dawn. “The fact that he took the time to call me was very comforting. I called them right away because I felt like they really loved him. It was like calling my husband’s brother and telling him. I will cherish that always.”
All of us at TriState Health would like to thank Dawn Marie Morrison for taking the time to share her story with us. We are grateful that you and your husband chose Dr. Karl Johnson and his team to become a part of your healthcare family.
TriState Podiatry specializes in complex wounds, reconstruction, and comprehensive care of the foot and ankle. If you, or a loved one, has diabetes, it is critical to be seen by a podiatrist at least once a year.
“Some people don’t realize that many insurances cover diabetic care by a podiatrist,” said Dr. Johnson. “With preventative care, it’s essential that it isn’t overlooked. Often times foot health is neglected.”
