Generations of Care: A Deep-Rooted Legacy in the Healing Garden
Share
The future Healing Garden at TriState Health is more than a peaceful outdoor space for Robin Albers – it’s a place that embodies healing, connection, and relaxation. Her desire to support the Healing Garden is deeply personal. It is a way to celebrate the spirit of her Grandma Ethel, who worked as a surgical nurse at TriState.
“The Healing Garden is a beautiful project that provides benefits for patients, families, visitors, and staff,” said Robin. “My family and I feel compelled to honor my Grandma Ethel, a vibrant and compassionate woman, for her contributions to the hospital.”
The Albers Family has a profound, multigenerational connection to TriState Health, dating back to its inception. Genevieve and Almon Albers, as well as Ethel and Henry Luke, Robin’s grandparents, contributed to the original hospital construction
in the 1950’s. Her family has continued to serve in various healthcare roles, with Robin herself providing speech therapy services at TriState and now, serving on the Board of Directors.
“Choosing to serve on the Board of Directors upholds my family’s commitment of community service. With two decades of experience in healthcare management and leadership, I felt that my expertise offers a valuable perspective to the board,” shared Robin.
Throughout the years, the Albers Family has celebrated and supported TriState Health through events like the Foundation’s annual Festival of Trees and the High Tea. These traditions fostered a deep sense of connection to the hospital and the community.
Robin believes the Healing Garden will be a tranquil space where people can decompress and find comfort. “Green spaces are proven to accelerate recovery, lower stress, and promote physical and mental well-being,” Robin shares. “This garden will be a place of solace, reflection, and community. It can be a focal point for TriState Health.”
Robin encourages others to honor their own loved ones by supporting this initiative. “It is a chance to create something meaningful – a place where lives are touched long after we are gone.”
As the Healing Garden comes to life, it will serve as a sanctuary for all. Patients seeking comfort, families finding peace, and staff utilizing it for moments of restoration. It reflects the strength and compassion of those who support TriState Health, including Robin’s family, whose dedication to service and community remains an inspiration.
