Tri-State Wellness will hold a new Diabetes Management Class

TriState Wellness will hold a new Diabetes Management Class on Tuesday, November 15, in honor of National Diabetes Month. National Diabetes month is a time when communities across the country team up to bring attention to diabetes. 37.3 million adults in the United States have diabetes, with 8.5 million undiagnosed, along with an additional 96 million people who have prediabetes.*

Topics: Discuss the risk factors and signs of diabetes

Attendees will have the opportunity to take a risk quiz, learn the difference between Prediabetes and Type 2 Diabetes, and what they can do to reduce the risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes. Patrons will hear about resources that are available to help them get the preventative and medical care that they need.

“This event is open to the public, and all ages are welcome,” said Jen Scharffer, Director of TriState Wellness. “We are here to support those in need of resources for their health, wellness, and diabetes management. No RSVP is required for this class, and admission is free.”

The TriState Wellness team consists of Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN), a nurse Diabetes Educator, and a Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (RN, CDCES). RDN’s are trained to assist with your nutrition needs. The Diabetes Educator and Diabetes Care and Education Specialist assists in providing the right information and support necessary to make diabetes self-care very manageable in your everyday life. TriState Diabetes Care Team’s mission is to empower patients with the self-care management skills necessary to improve their quality of life. TriState Health’s Diabetes Education Program is accredited by the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE).
