TriState Health recently received a $300,000 grant from the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust of Vancouver, Washington. The grant went towards the purchase of a new 3D mammography system. The Hologic 3D Dimensions Mammography System with Genius AI detection software, that will support needed healthcare services to serve rural patients.
3D mammography is more sensitive than traditional 2D mammography, in the early detection of breast cancer. The three-dimensional approach provides a more comprehensive view of breast tissue, allowing the radiologist to detect abnormalities with greater accuracy. This can be particularly beneficial for women with dense breast tissue. The new equipment will also have curved paddles, allowing for improved patient comfort.
“Following physicist acceptance testing and a Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) review, we will go live with the new 3D mammography unit in the coming weeks.” said Wendy Stirnkorb, Director of Imaging Services.
TriState Women’s Imaging offers full comprehensive breast health services. For questions about scheduling an appointment, call 509.758.4658.
