Grilling 101

Grilling can be a fun way to get the family together, enjoying the outdoor sun and not making a big mess in the kitchen!

Grilling Food Safety Basics:

Always make sure your grill is clean before adding food. You do not want leftover debris from previous meals to stick to your new food.

Make sure the brushes you use to clean your grill are not shedding metal shards and getting stuck to your food.

Don’t put your cooked foods back on plates you previously had raw food on. Always wash with hot soapy water or get a new serving platter. Same with serving utensils. Whatever utensils you have on your raw meats, make sure you get a new serving utensil for your cooked foods.

When marinating raw meats, make sure not to re-use the marinade on the cooked food; unless you have boiled it to cook out any bacteria.

Be Adventurous:

Add flavor and nutrition to your meal by cooking your vegetables right on the grill. Baste your vegetables with oil and season with herbs. Place right on the grill or put in a tin foil pouch.

Grill fruit kebabs for dessert, until golden brown.

You can even try and BBQ a pizza, add a pre-made crust, your toppings and cook it over a slow flame or pizza stone- just make sure you have the right tools to handle it, so you do not burn yourself.

Have your kids come up with ideas on what might be fun to grill.

Just have fun and be safe over an open flame.

Happy Grilling!
