From Patient to Employee

Lesley Hamilton’s journey with TriState Health began not as an employee, but as a patient. After spending two weeks at the hospital, she was struck by the compassion and warmth shown by the staff and felt that everyone was so kind and welcoming. “There was this sense of family that I felt throughout the hospital, and I knew it was the kind of place I wanted to be a part of,” Lesley shared.

Following her stay, Lesley applied for a position in TriState’s Nutritional Services Department and began working as a Dishwasher. It wasn’t long before her role expanded into a dual position that included Front Counter Attendant duties in the 1221 Campus Café. Her dedication and enthusiasm led to a full-time position at the front counter, and later, she became part of the team running the new Bistro in the P1FCU Inpatient & Dietary Wing, when it opened in 2023. Today, Lesley works in the Medical Surgical Unit and is looking forward to continuing to grow within the organization.

“The TriState Family has become such an important part of my life,” she said. From making lasting friendships to connecting with other departments, she has continually felt supported and excited about her career, and encouraged to keep moving forward.

Lesley’s ambitions reach beyond her current role, Health Unit Coordinator Tech. Inspired by the care and encouragement she’s received, she is now actively pursuing a degree in social work, with the goal of becoming a case manager. “Kym Clift, our CEO, encouraged me to pursue my education and work toward getting my degree in social work, and Brittney, one of the case managers, has been a constant source of guidance and support,” Lesley continues. She has been able to complete some of her community service hours for school right here at TriState.

“At TriState Health, we believe that our greatest strength lies in the growth and development of our people. We are committed to supporting our employee’s journey of learning, advancement, and career evolution,” shared Kym Clift, CEO at TriState Health. “When our employees succeed, our community and our mission thrive alongside them. We are honored to support Lesley on her journey, and look forward to her achieving and succeeding with her educational and future goals.”

Outside of work and school, Lesley expresses her creativity through artistic makeup design, a passion she has shared at TriState events by volunteering her talents to bring extra sparkle and fun to special occasions. She’s also a devoted supporter of the TriState Health Foundation and holds its annual Festival of Trees event close to her heart.

“One project that’s very special to me is the Festival of Trees. It brings so much joy and magic back to the holiday season and helps keep the spirit of the valley alive,” she said. “I create a mini tree each year, and I love bringing my child to experience the event with me. It’s become a tradition I look forward to every year.”

Nearly seven years into her journey at TriState, Lesley is on track to graduate with her bachelor’s degree in 2026 and plans to continue on to earn her master’s in social work by 2028.

“I’m excited for what the future holds and incredibly grateful to TriState for being such a supportive and inspiring part of my journey,” Lesley reflected. “It’s a joy to be part of this amazing team, one that uplifts each other and works together to bring healing, health, and happiness to our patients and our community.”
