We know you may have some questions before becoming a new patient, and we are here to help. Below are answers to some of the most common questions we hear. If you don’t see what you are looking for contact us online or call the clinic directly.
New Patients & Appointments
How do I become a patient at TriState OB/GYN?
You can get started by filling our our Online New Patient Form. Once received, our Referral Coordinator will contact you within 3-5 business days to schedule your first visit. Your Family Practice provider may also send over a referral.
How do I make an appointment?
If you’re a new patient, use the online new patient from. Once established, you can call the clinic directly to schedule your future visits. Our team is happy to help you find a time that fits your schedule.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Please bring:
- A photo ID
- Your insurance card
- A list of medications
- Any questions or concerns
- Relevant medical history, if available
What insurance plans do you accept?
TriState Health accepts most major insurance plans. If you’re unsure whether we’re in-network, please contact your insurance company directly or call our Patient Access Representatives at 509-254-2716.
How early should I arrive for my appointment?
Please arrive 10-15 minutes early for check-in and paperwork, especially if it is your first visit.
What is your cancellation or no-show policy?
We understand that life happens. If you need to cancel, please give us at least 24 hours’ notice. This helps us open up the appointment time to another patient who may be waiting.
How can I access my medical records for test results?
You can access your records and results through our secure patient portal. If you need help getting set up, our staff will gladly walk you through it.
How do I contact the clinic after hours?
Call the clinic and follow the prompts to reach the on-call provider. In an emergency, always call 9-1-1 or go to the nearest ER.
Where are you located and is parking available?
We’re located at 1119 Highland Avenue, Suite 2, Clarkston, WA. Free, convenient, parking is available onsite.
Gynecological Services
What age should I start seeing a gynecologist?
We recommend beginning between ages 13-15. Early visits focus on comfort, education, and building trust, not exams, unless medically necessary.
How often should I have a Pap smear?
Most people begin screening at age 21 and continue every 3-5 years if results are normal. Your provider will guide you based on your specific needs.
Do you offering birth control counseling and prescriptions?
Yes. We provide a full range of birth control options and are here to help you find what’s best for your body, lifestyle, and goals. We believe in informed, respectful conversations.
What should I expect during a pelvic exam?
Pelvic exams are typically quick and gentle. Your provider will explain everything beforehand and make sure you feel comfortable. You are always welcome to ask questions or have a chaperone present.
Can I be seen for irregular periods or heavy bleeding?
Yes. We offer compassionate, thorough care for menstrual concerns and will work with you to help you find relief and answers.
Do you offer STI testing and treatment?
Yes. We offer confidential, judgement-free STI testing and treatment. Your health, comfort, and dignity are always our top priorities.
Do you provide menopause management and hormone therapy?
Absolutely. We offer holistic menopause care, including lifestyle guidance, symptom relief, and hormone therapy, if appropriate. Every person’s journey is unique, and we are here to support yours.
Obstetric Care (Pregnancy)
When should I schedule my first prenatal appointment?
Usually around 8 weeks after your last period. Contact us as soon as you know you are pregnant, and we will help you get started on your care journey.
Do you offer prenatal genetic testing?
Yes, we provide several screening and diagnostic options. Your provider will help you decide what is right for you and your family.
Can I choose my birth plan and delivery preferences?
Yes. We will work closely with you to honor your birth preferences and ensure you feel empowered and supported throughout labor and deliver.
Will I see the same doctor throughout my pregnancy?
Yes, you will see the same provider for all of your prenatal care. We believe that continuity builds trust, comfort, and confidence. Your provider will support you during labor and delivery whenever possible, offering consistent and compassionate care, every step of the way.
TriState Health doesn't deliver babies at their facility. What hospital will my provider deliver at?
Our provider deliver at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. We partner closely with their team to ensure a seamless delivery experience.
Do you offer VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean)?
Yes, if it is medically safe. Dr. Kern offers vaginal birth after cesarean. She will review your history and walk through your options with you.
Can I get an ultrasound at your clinic?
Yes! We offer in-office ultrasounds for both early pregnancy and routine monitoring. Seeing that first little heartbeat is always a special moment we love sharing.
Do you offer high-risk pregnancy care?
Yes. We provide expert care for high-risk pregnancies, working closely with maternal-fetal medicine specialists when needed. You’re never alone – we walk every step with you.
Specialty Services & Procedures
Do you provide infertility evaluations and treatment?
Yes. If you’ve been trying without success, we offer initial testing, lifestyle support, and referrals to trusted fertility specialists when appropriate.
Do you perform in-office procedures like IUD insertions or biopsies?
Yes. We perform IUD placement/removal, endometrial biopsies, and colposcopies. Our providers will explain every step to help you feel informed and comfortable.
Do you offer minimally invasive or robotic surgery?
Yes. Dr. Kern provides laparoscopic and minimally invasive procedures for conditions for conditions like fibroids, pelvic pain, and endometriosis. For a full list of surgeries offered, visit TSH.org/OBGYN.
Can you help with urinary incontinence or pelvic floor isses?
Yes. These common issues are treatable concerns. We offer evaluations, therapy referrals, and care plans tailored to your needs and improve your quality of life.
Patient Comfort & Clinic Information
Are chaperones available during exams?
Yes. We offer chaperones for all intimate exams, and you’re welcome to request one at any time. Your safety and comfort matter to us.
Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?
Yes. You’re welcome to bring a support person to your visit. If restrictions apply (due to space or public health guidelines) , we’ll let you know ahead of time.
How is my personal and medical information protected?
We follow all HIPAA guidelines to keep your information private and secure. Your trust is something we take seriously, and are committed to protecting it.
What are TriState OB/GYN's clinic hours?
Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm. Some providers my offer early morning or lunch appointments for added convenience.
