Providing sports medicine at a local high school to enhance the safety and well-being of student athletes.

As a community-owned and operated hospital, TriState Health feels a responsibility to fill gaps when it sees a health-related need within our community. New this year, TriState will be providing an athletic trainer at Clarkston High School, to care for the overall health and safety of all student-athletes!

"Having access to an athletic trainer is crucial for the success, health and peace of mind for all athletes and stakeholders within Clarkston High School athletics.  Through my experiences as a football coach, I have seen firsthand the importance of having a trained medical professional available for both traumatic injury and daily recovery treatment.”

Need for an Athletic Training Program

For the past five years, the Clarkston School District has had difficulty employing a high school athletic trainer for various reasons. Not having a consistent certified medical professional onsite during high-school sporting events means our students have had to rely on volunteers or minimally trained sports administrators to identify and evaluate injuries.

TriState Health has committed to partner with Clarkston High School to provide a consistent athletic trainer, which ensures students are safer and have better access to treatment, triage, and prevention of sports-related injuries.

Why Support?

TriState Health Foundation is devoted to helping TriState Health place people and their health as the first priority. That is why we are committed to raising $25,000 for the much-needed Athletic Training Program. Our children deserve high-quality healthcare so they can remain safe while playing the sports they love. We know that sports offer students not only numerous physical health benefits, but also countless mental health benefits. It provides an outlet for stress relief, promotes social interaction and teamwork, boosts self-esteem and confidence, and fosters a sense of belonging and identity within a community.

Your support of this program will empower our athletic trainer to provide exceptional care, that will help these student-athletes perform at their best while minimizing the risk of long-term health issues.

Do you know the benefits of having an Athletic Trainer?

1

INJURY PREVENTION

Athletic trainers are healthcare professionals who are trained to identify injury risks and implement preventative measures to reduce the likelihood of injuries among student-athletes.

2

IMMEDIATE CARE

In the event of an injury, having an athletic trainer on-site ensures that students receive prompt and appropriate medical attention, which can help minimize the severity of injuries and facilitate faster recovery.

3

REHABILITATION

Athletic trainers work with injured athletes and their coaches to develop personalized rehabilitation plans, guiding them through exercises and therapies to aid in their recovery and return to play.

In addition to the three main benefits listed above, athletic trainers educate student-athletes and coaches, about hydration, overall wellness, and promoting healthier lifestyles both on and off the field. Athletic trainers are also prepared to respond to emergency situations including but not limited to, traumatic injuries, cardiac events, and extreme weather conditions. An athletic trainers main goal is to care for the overall health and safety of all student-athletes!
